Afro Dominicano presented in partnership with the Brooklyn Cumbia Festival
The Brooklyn Cumbia Festival by One Whale’s Tale is a multi-day community-focused music festival that celebrates Cumbia music from its origins in Colombia to its modern forms across Latin America—taking place in community gardens, public parks, and iconic venues with music workshops, dancing, DJs, live bands, food, drinks, and arts & crafts.
Afro Dominicano is a Latin Fusion band which centers its music into what they call Afro Caribbean soul. They blend traditional folkloric roots music from the Dominican Republic such as Perico Ripiao, Palo, Merengue de Orquesta, Bachata with Afro-beats, reggae, calypso, samba, Funk, Punk rock, and other Caribbean rhythms.
