About Coach Tyriek:

Born and Raised in Philadelphia, Coach Tyriek currently resides in the greater New York area and works as a Group Instructor and Fitness Coach for his company, Black and Queer Fitness, an artist and advocate for HIV/ AIDS Awareness both before and after his transition to being HIV positive, working with Equality Texas, The Octopus Club, and Out Youth. While working in the gay nightlife scene in Austin, Texas, Tyriek aka Ty Castros, was titled the FIRST ever AFRICAN AMERICAN, "Mr. Austin Pride.”

Coach Tyriek worked in various positions in the food and beverage industry for close to 10 years, primarily LGBTQIA+ local bars and clubs, before he found his true passion in training.

He made the switch to the fitness world, working the front desk at SOULCYCLE, and personal training at Equinox and Crunch Fitness, where he held the title of Number One Sales Coach 3 consecutive times in a row. About Five years into training, he leaped into a business of his own. “Taylor’d Fitness” was born, and Coach Tyriek caught his big break by being accepted to MEN’S HEALTH Strength in Diversity Initiative, with a total of three features both print and digital. After the pandemic, Taylor’d Fitness closed down gracefully, letting Tyriek focus on both his mental and physical health a lot deeper than the surface.

“I felt there was a need for a space like this, as a black gay man, that provides skills, tools to be stronger, move better, feel healthier, and carry it over in all areas of life." Since then Coach Tyriek has been featured in 4 Men's Health Articles, ABC News, and My Plus Life on ABC.
