Top Chef alum Nelson Germán returns to his hometown of New York for a one-night-only collaboration dinner at the James Beard Foundation's Platform at Pier 57. Raised in Washington Heights and now based in Oakland — where he's the chef-restaurateur behind Sobre Mesa, alaMar, and Meski — Germán teams up with Afro-Honduran baker, author, and TV host Bryan Ford for an immersive Caribbean evening.
The dinner draws on Germán's new book, Caribbean Cocktails, co-authored with James Beard Award winner Andréa Lawson Gray. Cocktails lead the night, moving from bright and citrus-driven to rich, spiced, and savory, with dishes built to match. A zero-proof cocktail selection and a chef Q&A round out the experience.
