Relevant Tones: Cosmicomics
Italo Calvino's seminal short story collection Cosmicomics tells the story of the dawn of the universe through the eyes of an immortal narrator known only as Qwfwq. The stories were inspired by then-recent discoveries in quantum mechanics and physics and are told with a sly sense of humor that brings them down to the human scale.
Access Contemporary Music’s latest album release features music by Seth Boustead inspired by Cosmicomics. We celebrate with a live-taped episode of our award-winning podcast Relevant Tones.
Host Tod Lippy will talk with Seth and with writer and comic artist John Dermot Woods and Yale University astrophysicist Chiara Mingarelli about the stories’ literary and scientific legacy.
We’ll hear selections from the album performed live by Unheard-of//Ensemble
