By Way Of: Material and Motion in the Guggenheim Collection
By Way Of examines artmaking after World War II, particularly how artists continued to expand the boundaries of creativity beyond the studio with new materials. The exhibit showcases artists from the Arte Povera movement of the 1960s and 1970s, like Jannis Kounellis and Mario Merz, as well as artists working today, such as Rashid Johnson, Mona Hatoum, and Senga Nengudi.
