Intringulis
When he was in high school, Carlo Albán was a cast member on Sesame Street—playing a nice American boy teaching other nice American children essential lessons.
Off camera, he was an undocumented immigrant, hiding in plain sight and learning lessons of his own.
Last performed in 2011, Intríngulis returns with new urgency in 2026. The word means a snag, a complication—a knot you can’t easily untangle. Carlo’s solo play traces his family’s immigration journey and the long path to legalization, told from the fault lines of what it means to be “American.” Told with pathos, music, joy, and scathing honesty, this is a true story of family, fearlessness, and what it means to speak the world in many languages.
This will be an AEA, SDC, and USA 829 production
