Marked for More — Photography Exhibition
Marked for More is an immersive photography exhibition, open for two days in New York City, revealing stories of orphan and abandoned youth in post-communist Romania, aging out of foster care. The exhibition is grounded in the belief that not every story survives in words. For young adults raised in foster care, their identity survives on their skin, through the tattoos they did when there was no one else to witness, no album to hold a memory, no home to anchor a future.
From loss to hope, from vulnerability to resilience, these stories documented on skin invite us to LOOK AGAIN and see beyond labels and familiar narratives.
Marked for More was photographed by acclaimed Romanian photographer, Alex Gâlmeanu. Alex has built his reputation above all through portrait photography, with an extensive body of work spanning editorial, fashion, advertising, documentary film, and exhibits in Europe and the US. His practice of staying close to what is real, allowing a person to reveal themselves without force was essential to the portrayal of the Romanian youth.

On June 19, from 7PM, the exhibition comes to life with sound, movement and the voices behind the ink.
