Earth Day 2026 Festival in Union Square
The Earth Day 2026 Festival returns to Union Square on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for an afternoon of climate action, art, education, and community.
Hosted by Earth Day Initiative, the free annual festival brings together dozens of environmental nonprofits, climate campaigns, green living experts, sustainable businesses, performers, artists, educators, and community groups from across New York City. Official programming includes interactive workshops, live performances, climate art, kids’ activities, and sustainable foods.
This year’s festival will highlight the breadth of the city’s environmental movement, with participants ranging from Fridays for Future NYC, the youth climate activist movement inspired by Greta Thunberg, to March for Science NYC and many other organizations working across climate, education, civic engagement, sustainability, and public awareness. The official exhibitor lineup also includes groups such as World Wildlife Fund, Food & Water Watch, NYLCV, NY Sun Works, Oceanic Global, and the Lower East Side Ecology Center.
Among this year’s featured installations is GOOD, a melting ice sculpture depicting nature motifs that will transform over the course of the day, serving as a visual reflection on the interconnected challenges of climate change, democracy, and collective action.
The festival is free and open to the public.
