Sahara von Hattenberger Solo Cello
Composers Concordance continues its commitment to adventurous new music with a compelling solo cello performance by Sahara von Hattenberger on Friday, June 5 at 7:00 PM at Gallery MC. This intimate program showcases the expressive and technical range of the solo cello through a selection of contemporary works by leading composers in the new music scene. The evening highlights innovative compositional voices and bold musical storytelling, brought to life by von Hattenberger’s dynamic artistry. Sahara is a member of the Chamber Orchestra of New York, and is the co-founder of Duo Étrange (Cello+Soprano). Duo Étrange recently completed 4 shows in NYC directed by legendary opera/theatre director Marcus Shields. In 2024 she released her first solo album through the label Odd Sounds with collaborative pianist Joanne Kang (from Carnegie Hall's: "ensemble connect") as well as acclaimed jazz performers Jim Doxas (drums) and Adrian Vedady (bass), which featured repertoire by Claude Bolling alongside three new commissions by Grammy-winning composer Remy Le Boeuf, Malcolm Sailor, and Jeffrey Fong. Her mission as a chamber musician is to bring engaging contemporary music to the forefront.
