Miss Maybell and the Jazz Age Artistes
Miss Maybell and the Jazz Age Artistes are known for their large repertoire of Prohibition-Era Jazz, Ragtime and Blues. Sourcing their tunes directly from dusty old records and antique sheet music, the group brings new life to songs created over 100 years ago. With this unique sound and dedication they were recently featured on The NPR Show “Person, Place, Thing” With Randy Cohen. Building a sizable following from residencies at Birdland Theater as well as venues such as Flatiron Room, Chez Josephene, The Back Room, St Mazie and Sleep No More, they have also built a respectable international following from performing regularly in Europe, recently headlining Sevilla Swing in Seville, Spain and selling out a week of shows at Marian's Jazz Room in Bern, Switzerland.
Led by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Miss Maybell, the group is composed of some of NYC's finest musicians, such as Charlie Judkins on Piano, Brian Nalepka (of Broadway's "Crazy for You") on Bass, and Andy Stein (Two time Grammy winner and Violinist on "A Prairie Home Companion") on Violin.
