A drummer, composer, and force of creative music, Reggie Nicholson has been one of the most adventurous and intellectually rigorous percussionists on the New York scene for decades. Born in Chicago and shaped by the legendary Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), he has performed with Henry Threadgill, Muhal Richard Abrams, Anthony Braxton, Amina Claudine Myers, Myra Melford, Don Pullen, and many more — bringing a drumming style that blends avant-garde improvisation, intricate rhythmic architecture, and deep engagement with the African American musical tradition.
