Miles Davis Celebration
This all-star quintet led by the great drummer Al Foster celebrates the music (and the May 26th birthday) of the iconic jazz innovator Miles Davis. Foster was a close friend Miles and his longtime drummer throughout the 1970s and 80s. In his autobiography, Miles related that he hired Al because, "He could set up shit for everyone else to play off and could keep the groove going forever." Foster also worked extensively with Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, and Joe Henderson and he is joined here by a surefire lineup that includes trumpeter Nicholas Payton, alto saxophonist Vincent Herring, and pianist Larry Willis.
