What Emma Wrote: The Woman Behind the Words on the Statue of Liberty
Join us for a special storytime celebrating the inspiring story of What Emma Wrote: The Woman Behind the Words on the Statue of Liberty. Author Ann Diament Koffsky read aloud from her book and share how poet Emma Lazarus used her words to welcome immigrants arriving in New York Harbor. After the read-aloud, children will create their own Statue of Liberty crown collage. Inspired by Emma Lazarus’s poem “The New Colossus,” participants will fill their crowns with welcoming and hopeful words that reflect kindness, community, and belonging. The program will include an opportunity to meet the author and have books signed.
This is an in-person children’s program that meets at the Skyscraper Museum, 39 Battery Pl. Programs are designed for children ages 3-10 years old.
