The Dumbo Pizza Party - Archway Under the Manhattan Bridge

It’s the start of a new tradition as the Dumbo Improvement District and Sixpoint host their first annual Dumbo Pizza Party on Friday, September 13 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. under the Dumbo Archway. Pizza Party attendees can try slices from Front Street, Ignazio’s, and Groundlings, and ice cream from Ample Hills Creamery, OddFellows, Melt, and Shake Shack, accompanied by a #DumboWeisse, Dumbo’s custom Sixpoint beer. All slices of pizza and scoops of ice cream are only two dollars each. The event also features a dance party with a special DJ set by Brooklyn’s Reverend Vince Anderson; and balloon animals and face painting for kids and kids at heart.

Beginning September 12th, The Feast of San Gennaro, celebrates its 93rd anniversary this year hosting a variety of activities and events throughout its 11-day celebration. The Feast takes place in the heart of Little Italy, running along Mulberry Street, between Canal Street (on south) and Houston Street (on north). The annual festival presented by Figli di San Gennaro (Children of San Gennaro) is a not-for-profit community organization dedicated to keeping the spirit and faith of the early Italian immigrants alive. The feast will kick-off with The Blessing of The Stands on September 12th at 6pm. During this event, a Parish Priest parades through the festival blessing all the shops, restaurants, vendors, and merchants to symbol an enjoyable and successful feast.

Samaritan Daytop Village Community Festival - 8th Avenue, Between West 42nd and 55th Streets

Now in its 25th year, the Samaritan Daytop Village Community Festival celebrates community, wellness and living free of substance use disorder. The annual street fair, which attracts thousands of residents, neighbors and visitors, takes place on Saturday, September 14th from 10 AM – 6 PM on 8th Avenue from West 42nd to 55th Streets in Manhattan. Samaritan Daytop Village is one of New York State’s largest health and human service agencies. The organization provides a continuum of services including substance use disorder treatment, health and mental health care, recovery services, shelter, transitional and permanent housing, and services for veterans and seniors. The festival, held during National Recovery Month, features food, arts and crafts, clothing, jewelry and other items to browse or buy. Throughout the day, Samaritan Daytop Village staff and members of the Samaritan Daytop Family Association, as well as partner recovery groups and alumni associations, will be on hand to discuss the importance of treatment, recovery and how to get help.

Theater for the New City's Dream up Festival 2019 - Theater For the New City

The festival is available to both performance groups and individuals. Plays, dance theater, solo works, and interdisciplinary material will all be welcome so long as they can co-exist in repertory with other productions in the festival lineup. Technical requirements and the use of production effects will need to be limited. Scenic elements are welcome but one or more of these elements will have to be used in an inventive way.

Kids Create like Burle Marx! - New York Botanical Garden

Kids channel their innate curiosity and creativity as they learn about the native plants of Brazil and become inspired plant lovers and designer-artists like Burle Marx. In the Children's Adventure Garden, they can start their own indoor garden by potting up a fantastic philodendron plant, design a playful sculpture inspired by the bold colors and geometric shapes used by Burle Marx, and compare plants growing in the Bronx and Brazil to understand more about plant diversity.

San Gennaro - Little Italy

Beginning September 12th, The Feast of San Gennaro, celebrates its 93rd anniversary this year hosting a variety of activities and events throughout its 11-day celebration. The Feast takes place in the heart of Little Italy, running along Mulberry Street, between Canal Street (on south) and Houston Street (on north). The annual festival presented by Figli di San Gennaro (Children of San Gennaro) is a not-for-profit community organization dedicated to keeping the spirit and faith of the early Italian immigrants alive. To celebrate traditions of the past, the feast will be reintroducing the traditional, column lights to illuminate the streets in celebration of authentic Italy heritage. The celebration spans over 10 blocks with vendors offering everything from zeppoles to custom made jewelry, entertainment and family friendly activities. The feast will kick-off with The Blessing of The Stands on September 12th at 6:00 PM. During this event, a Parish Priest parades through the festival blessing all the shops, restaurants, vendors, and merchants to symbol an enjoyable and successful feast. Putting down Roots: Celebrating 30 Years of Bronx Green-Up - New York Botanical Garden

NYBG's community gardening outreach program is commemorating its 30th anniversary with a photo exhibition in Ross Gallery. Bronx Green-Up supports more than 200 local greening groups, schools, and community organizations in their missions to improve their neighborhoods through greening projects. In honor of this anniversary, four teen photographers from the Bronx Documentary Center's Bronx Junior Photo League document the activity of these organizations, from planting, weeding, and composting to harvest and celebration. Their dynamic photographs celebrate the community-building and activism taking place all across our borough.

OktoberFest NYC - Watermark Bar at Pier 15

New York City’s largest outdoor Oktoberfest festival, Oktoberfest NYC 2019 kicks off on Friday, September 13th, one week in advance of the official start of the famous German festival, at Watermark Bar at Pier 15. From Merchants Hospitality, OktoberFest New York will span six weekends, turning downtown’s Pier 15 into a lively celebration of authentic German beers, traditional German foods, OktoberFest decorations and fun games for the entire family. High Line presents En Plein Air, a group exhibition that broadens and challenges historical ideas of outdoor painting.
