'Chasing the Sun' will be officially released in July of this year, and advance copies of the album will be available at this show. The folksy narratives that have dominated much of their earlier work are still present, but these tales now accompany contemporary, personal compositions on empowerment, overcoming internal conflict, and the universal threads of love and loss. All in all, 'Chasing the Sun' is a collection of songs demonstrating the range and experiences of four authors navigating a course through middle age who've managed to stick together through the ups and downs of... Spirit Adrift High Command - Monty Hall
June 12, 2019 - Jersey City

While Spirit Adrift made many take notice with their debut album “Chained To Oblivion”, it is on “Curse Of Conception” their stellar second album, and first with new label 20 Buck Spin, that the band has taken a giant leap forward in songwriting prowess, production and confidence. From the Metallica / Priest like opening moments of ‘Earthbound’ to the epic closing of “Onward, Inward”, Spirit Adrift are aiming sky high with burning focus and peak vigor. The aforementioned ‘Earthbound’ is a standard bearer for album-opening songcraft, leading into the colossal title track, a grungy and twisting radio-ready crawler. ‘To Fly On Broken Wings’ & ‘Graveside Invocation’ continue to show that any of the eight tracks on ‘Curse Of Conception’ could stand as featured singles. Throughout the duration brick heavy riff assembly, somber southern atmospherics and grand melodies entwine flawlessly into perfect metallic majesty, exemplified succinctly and totally in the instrumental ‘Wakien’ for example. With a host of fantastic albums released by their contemporaries lately, Spirit Adrift has taken their craft to an ascendent new level on ‘Curse Of Conception’ earning their rightful place amon... Leonard Bernstein Centennial Finale Concert: 'Dybbuk' and 'Fancy Free' (World Premiere of New Orchestrations) - The DiMenna Center for Classical Music
June 14, 2019 - New York

LOST DOG NEW MUSIC ENSEMBLE marks the Finale of the Leonard Bernstein Centennial in New York City, with the world premiere of new orchestrations of Bernstein's ballet scores 'Dybbuk' and 'Fancy Free'. Fancy Free (1944), about three sailors on leave in New York City during World War II, is a sparkling touchstone of Bernstein's jazzy, populist style, and of a young composer eager to show off his tremendous talent. Dybbuk (1974) is one of Bernstein's last major works, and one of his greatest achievements as a composer. At turns eerie, wild, and savage, this ballet about thwarted love and demonic possession is inspired by Kabbalistic numerology. The virtuosic score is very rarely heard; this will be the only concert performance during the Bernstein Centennial.

Through June 21, 2019 - Brooklyn

Bushwick has long enjoyed a reputation as a mecca for the world’s most illustrious street artists, who have radically altered its urban landscape. Residential, commercial, and industrial buildings have all served as large-scale canvases for muralists to engage with the history, sites, and people of one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in Brooklyn. However, local residents and visitors don't always have easy access to basic information regarding any given mural, such as artist biography, artistic motivation, or how the content and style relate to local architecture and the community's rich past. This carefully curated and independently researched tour is designed to provide greater context surrounding key works of art while simultaneously introducing guests to some of Bushwick's local establishments. Whether you’re a native New Yorker looking to find out more about the public art you walk past every day or a tourist in town looking for a less conventional excursion, this 1.5-hour tour offers in-depth information presented in a fun, engaging way. Unlike other tours, we'll only be focusing on a small number of murals, allowing us to dissect the symbolism and meaning as a group.
