TUELO sounds like the wild child of Nina Simone and David Bowie, who grew up with Sex Pistols and Blondie posters on her wall, and was taught music by Miriam Makeba. Fate was on her sidefrom a shy, non-singing child to being a vocalist on Grammy winning albums, TUELO is carving out a permanent and memorable place in popular music worldwide. He soon manifested his musical talent: at the young age of 17, Jeremy received a full scholarship to attend the Berklee College of Music. The Bones of Jr Jones - The Mercury Lounge
February 28, 2020 - New York

21 and OverThayer SarranoWhen Jonathon Robert Linaberry needs a break from city life, he goes Upstate, near the Catskills, to renovate a little farmhouse he purchased a couple of years back. As he pours himself into his work, J.R. doesn't think about texts, email, or even his music, which he performs solo under the moniker The Bones Of J.R. Jones. His only focus is the house. "That's been an amazing emotional outlet for me," he says of his periodic retreats. "To kind of sustain myself after coming from the road and getting back into the grind of the city, to have this, for lack of a better term, Shangri-La." In a sense, recording and touring as The Bones Of J.R. Jones is its own form of isolation. But you wouldn't immediately think so: As a one-man band, J.R.'s project, which fuses a moody blend of soul, blues, roots, and Americana, sounds enormous both on record and live in concert.

February 29, 2020 - Brooklyn

Devin Townsend Over the course of the last 25 years, accomplished heavy music artist Devin Townsend has remained consistent. Consistent-that is-in that hes rarely consistent in what weve come to expect from him. Constantly making unique inroads with many different styles of music, he has followed his particular muse in any way it leads him for almost three decades. Although heavy metal and progressive rock has always been his primary focus, each year that passes recently has resulted in new peripheral works that have seen him branch off to everything from country, new age, ambient noise or even orchestral musical theatre. As endearing as that has been to his constantly growing fanbase, it has also made it difficult to classify with much accuracy what he does and what he represents. Who is Devin Townsend? What is his musical identity? With his new album, EMPATH, we find that Devin Townsend is actually all of these things. Over the past few years, the success that Devin has slowly worked for has fortunately come with the power to control his own creative destiny. Cult of Luna With Emma Ruth Rundle, Intronaut - Gramercy Theatre
March 01, 2020 - New York

16+ Unless Accompanied by a GuardianFormed from the remnants of a hardcore band named Eclipse in the far-northern Swedish town of Umea (also home to avant-hardcore masters Refused and metal extremists Meshuggah and Naglfar), Cult of Luna have perfected an elaborate, extremely dark progressive style of metalcore largely derived from the pioneering work of America's Neurosis. Although hardly the only band to find inspiration in the Bay Area bunch (Isis and Rwake also numbering among their disciples), Cult of Luna are unquestionably among the most accomplished and distinctive in their own right, making an immediate impression upon metal fans with their eponymous 2001 debut through Rage of Achilles, and attaining further noisecore cred via a 7" release on tastemaker Hydra Head Records the following year. Their sophomore effort, The Beyond, solidified their standing a couple of years later and inaugurated a new relationship with Earache for vocalist Klas Rydberg, guitarists Erik Olofsson and Johannes Persson, bassist Andreas Johansson, keyboardist Magnus Lindberg, and drummer Marco Hilden. The last was replaced by Thomas Hedlund the next year, and Cult of Luna expanded to a seven piec... (read more)

These moments in human history pale in comparison to a series of events which unfolded in late 2015 and led to the formation of a musical group that Rolling Stone has called "we do not accept submissions". You have come to this page in search of something. Truth, perhaps? You have found truth. You have found justice. You have found Carmen Sandiego. You have found Ronald Reggae.

O Memorie is a storytelling concept-project from Joseph Ruddleston focusing predominantly on music about dreams and memories. Originally conceived in London in 2016, it first took the form of an LP called Something True, Ruddleston wrote 10 tracks, recording them lo-fi, unedited and barely finished through his cassette recorder, all in the space of 2 hours. The stream-of-consciousness, daydream-style approach to songwriting allowed him more creative freedom and led him to write a followup EP called Cave Drawings. Cave Drawings was his first inclusion of another musician, Australian singer Ruby Muller.

The Furies - Rockwood Music Hall
March 01, 2020 - New York

Described as "fiery, ferocious, and familiar" lead singer Lee Moretti formed The Furies after coming fresh off the road as Third Eye Blind's multi-instrumentalist and background vocalist. The band built a sound that began with their EP "Omens," and resulted in two national tours, $20,000 in crowd funding raised, and a 2018 New England Music Award for "Best in State." With a delivery that's been described as both "raw and ruthless" as well as "powered with hooks and populsion," the group combines soaring vocal harmonies with instrumental prowess, creating a dense indie sound that leaves a powerful and haunting wake. The Furies have shared the stage with the likes of The Ataris, Big Scary, Howie Day, The Indigo Girls, Joan Baez, and Mary Chapin Carpenter among others. With a new album and tour ahead for 2020, these women show no signs of slowing down. And much like their namesake, they mean business.
