Poets House’s 24th Annual Poetry Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge
Hundreds of poetry lovers, well-known poets including former poet laureate Robert Pinsky, Pulitzer Prize winner Gregory Pardio, Rosamund King, Jennie Xie and Anne Waldman will make a poetic pilgrimage across the Brooklyn Bridge as they read aloud NYC-centric poetry on Monday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m., starting in front of the Municipal Building at One Centre Street at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge in Manhattan. The 24th annual Poetry Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge benefits Poets House, a 70,000-volume poetry library, national literary center, and creative space that invites poets and the public to step into the living tradition of poetry.
The participating poets, longtime Poets House Executive Director Lee Briccetti and Elizabeth Kray Award for Outstanding Service to Poetry recipient Anne Waldman, will be available for interviews. Proceeds from the Poetry Walk support the programs and services of Poets House.
Founded in 1985 by two-time U.S. Poet Laureate Stanley Kunitz and legendary arts administrator Elizabeth Kray, Poets House creates a home for all who read and write poetry. In 2009, Poets House moved into its permanent home, at 10 River Terrace in Battery Park City, on the banks of the Hudson River. Last year, 80,000 people visited Poets House, and millions more were introduced to Poets House via its website and national partnerships.
