Rooted in the belief that art builds empathy, understanding, and respect for others, CIVICKIDS aims to foster civic engagement and shared community pride through art making. Each month, CMA will issue a digital art making challenge based on themes of civic engagement including environmentalism, identity, equity, leadership, sustainability and kindness. Venue Description: The Children's Museum of the Arts, founded in October 1988, and voted "Most Kid-Friendly Art Museum" by Time Out New York Kids' NYC Parents Award, is one of the oldest children's art museums in the world. Celebrating and sculpting the creative soul in every child by encouraging self-expression and self-esteem with the visual and performing arts and hands-on art programs, here young imagination comes alive. The children are guided by highly-skilled, professional artists, along with the museum's on-going collection and exhibition of children's art and partnerships with diverse community organizations. With art workshops, classes, and even fully catered and themed birthday parties, The Children's Museum of Arts is one of the best places for families to celebrate life and the arts in New York City.

The Children's Museum of the Arts is located at 182 Lafayette Street, New York and is open Wednesday through Sunday 12pm-5pm and Thursdays 12pm-6pm. Holiday hours may vary; please see their website cmany.org or call (212) 274-0986 for more info. Admission is $10 per person (aged 1-65 years), and on Thursdays 4-6pm is special ?pay as you wish? admission price. The CMA is wheelchair accessible.
