Celebrate Women This Season! At Brooklyn’s BUST Craftacular Dec. 7 & 8 + Shop Women-Made Gifts And Explore Workshops Led By Local Women Artisans And Experts
[Brooklyn, NY] The BUST Craftacular—N.Y.C.’s longest-running indie craft fair now in its 14th year—is celebrating the creative ingenuity of women this holiday season with a shopping event showcasing over 200 women-owned brands. Being held on December 7th and 8th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Brooklyn hotspot Industry City (Factory Floor, 220 36th St., Brooklyn, NY, 11232), this homage to everything handmade and vintage will feature a roster of female crafting talent, all selling gifts shoppers won’t find anywhere else. And alongside these talented makers and shakers, over 60 exciting workshops will be held throughout the event where attendees can learn to make their own gifts at classes like “Cross Stitch the Golden Girls” and “Make a Dyed Beadwork Keychain”; learn to relax and de-stress during the holidays with “Magical Infused Oils for Self Love” and “Lunar Intention-Setting Circle”; and develop new skills to practice in the new year like “Belly Dancing,” “Knife Skills,” and “Turning Your Passion Into Profit!” In an era when the personal is political and shoppers are interested in building community and voting with their dollars, the BUST Craftacular, featuring exclusively women-led brands, provides a gift-giving opportunity folks can feel good about. Visitors can buy jewelry and accessories from a woman who designed them herself in her studio, or sweets from a woman who cooked them up in her own kitchen, or bath and body products blended from the purveyor’s own family recipe. Every item has a story behind it, and every purchase will make a difference in a female entrepreneur’s life.
Another exciting aspect of the event will be the live taping of BUST’s Poptarts podcast with special guest Kara Loewentheil—host of the hugely popular iTunes top-rated self-help podcast Unf*ck Your Brain (downloaded over 5M times)—being presented on Dec. 7th at 3:15 p.m. During this lively interview, Loewentheil will share strategies for keeping your cool when things get heated with the fam during this season of (possibly too much?) togetherness and much more. According to BUST co-founder Debbie Stoller, “It’s important to take some time for yourself during the busy holiday season, whether you’re settling down with a new craft at our ‘DIY Charm Necklace’ class, learning to build your own journaling practice, or relaxing with a workshop on ‘Herbal Stress Busters for City Living.’ The BUST Craftacular allows you to do just that. Best of all, you can also get all your shopping done knowing that you’re supporting women-owned businesses with every purchase.”
General admission is FREE, and tickets to workshops at just $15 each can be purchased in advance at craftacular.bust.com or in-person at the event.
For a complete roster of vendors, and up-to-date info on workshops, visit craftacular.bust.com and follow BUST on social media @bust_magazine and use #bustcraftacular.
The BUST Craftacular is sponsored by Green Mountain Energy, Manic Panic, The Quarto Group, and Bowery Farm.
