Sarah Jane Cion, the 1st Place Winner of the 17th Annual Great American Jazz Piano Competition, has graced the stage alongside legends such as Clark Terry, Anita O’Day, Carmen Leggio, and Bucky Pizzarelli. Her impressive debut CD features the talents of Antonio Hart and Tony Reedus, while her second release on the Naxos Jazz label includes collaborations with Chris Potter and Billy Hart. The third CD highlights the incomparable saxophone giant Michael Brecker.
Beyond her achievements as a performer, Sarah is a prolific writer and educator. Her articles and transcriptions have been published in Piano Today Magazine, and her book "Modern Jazz Piano" was released by Hal Leonard in 2005. As a contributor to the Steinway Library of Piano Music, she has penned notable works such as "Pianist's Jammin' Handbook" and "A Baker's Dozen: 13 Contemporary Jazz Etudes."
Sarah's musical prowess extends beyond the jazz realm; her compositions were featured on the ABC daytime soap "All My Children." A finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, her music has left an indelible mark on the cinematic world, appearing in films like "Thor: The Dark World" and Clint Eastwood's "The Mule."
