Summer History Series: From Archaeology to Lawn Games!
Due to the coronavirus, please call to ensure this event is still happening before you leave home.
Want to get outside and learn? The Queens Historical Society is hosting outdoor events throughout August and September for our young friends from age 7-12. Come to learn history through the fun of a range of games and activities! This program will be offered in The Weeping Beech Park and will involve social distancing, and personal protective equipment.
This fun will come with safety and learning outside, so bring some water. Don’t forget to bring your sunscreen too, but enjoy the shade of the historic Weeping Beech Tree! These programs will be weather permitting, with potential makeup dates being offered if they are canceled.
Each program is a separate event, come to as many as you would like, even if you have skipped one!

* Be a naturalist and document the science around you, to show your friends your collection of specimens. Collect examples of different species of plants in the park, and research information about them, while creating a scrapbook to both preserves, and display them.
* Design a paper flower arrangement, like a Victorian-era artiste. Make fashionable flowers out of nothing but paper and wire! Learn decorative technique and color coordination to create bouquets that will last forever.
* Engage in a friendly lawn match of Bowling, and Croquet. See what kind of gentle fun one can have with a lawn. Learn how to play old fashion games of skill and finesse, while learning ways to have fun outside.
**Please Note** To ensure the safety of our community members and staff, proper social distancing measures must be practiced during the workshops. Masks are required at any time (except children under 2).
