The MoMA Presents Performances of “May Amnesia Never Kiss Us on The Mouth” June 4 – June 26: Hiro Kone (June 4)
The Museum of Modern Art will present June performances that will premiere new works by electronic musicians and DJs Hiro Kone, SCRAAATCH, and Muqata'a in conjunction with the current MoMA presentation of Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme's May amnesia never kiss us on the mouth. This multipart project co-commissioned by MoMA and Dia Art Foundation examines how communities bear witness to experiences of violence, loss, displacement, and forced migration. Since the early 2010s, the artists have created an online archive of audio & video recordings of everyday people singing and dancing in communal spaces in Iraq, Palestine, Syria, and Yemen. MoMA's exhibition, on view through June 26, brings this footage into the Studio through an immersive, multichannel sound and moving-image installation.
Additional performances include: • June 5 – SCRAAATCH • June 11 – Muqata’a • June 12 – Jam session with Basel Abbas, Ruanne Abou-Rahme, Hiro Kone, SCRAAATCH, and Muqata’a • June 23 – Abbas and Abou-Rahme will premiere a new performance titled an echo buried, buried, but calling still • June 25 – Abbas and Abou-Rahme, an echo buried, buried, but calling still followed by a conversation with the artists • June 26 – Abbas and Abou-Rahme, an echo buried, buried, but calling still
