American Slavery Project 2019 Play Reading Series: The ABC's: African-Americans From Bondage Through Crow "FREEDOM TO ENFRANCHISEMENT" 6/17, 7pm at The National Black Theatre, 2031 Fifth Ave., NYC at 125th St. Ode to Juneteenth By Eugene Lee Performed by Godfrey L. Simmons, Jr. Emancipation Jones tells us the true story of "Juneteenth", the day 2 ½ years after the Emancipation Proclamation when Union Soldiers finally rode into Texas to announce the end of slavery. In the Parlour By Judy Tate Directed by Dianne Kirksey-Floyd 1913, on the eve of the historic Washington D.C. women's march, a young member of the newly formed Delta Sigma Theta Sorority stitches up walking skirts for her fellow sorority sisters to wear. But soon they learn the march's famous organizer has other plans.
