Presented during the annual Association of Performing Arts Professionals conference, Live Artery 2019 will feature excerpts of recently premiered works and work-in-progress presentations in the theater and studio. In the theater, New York Lives Arts’ 2017-19 RandjeloviA?/Stryker Resident Commissioned Artist (RCA) RoseAnne Spradlin presents her latest work “Y”. Spradlin, an alumnus of Fresh Tracks (1990) who received a Bessie award in 2003, a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2008, and a US Artist Ford Fellowship in 2014 engages a cast of eight dancers: Annie Heath, Ainesh Madan, Athena Malloy, Claire Westby, Connor Voss, Doug LeCours, EmmaGrace Skove-Epes, and Thomas Welsh-Huggins in an exploration of form and transformation through systems of repetition. The work asks not only, “How far can we go? What can a body do?” It also asks, “What is a body?
