Wendy Shalen: Portraits of Nature, Then & Now

For over twenty years, Wendy Shalen has created a body of work entitled Portraits of Nature through her drawings, paintings, and handmade paper. Walking her Airedales through the forests surrounding her home has offered her great inspiration and a collection of natural objects to draw. Using a variety of media such as silver and gold point, graphite and colored pencils, watercolor and pastel, and lithography, Shalen observes the details of small skeletal branches, tree knots, curled leaves, birch bark, and oak forest finds. ARTIST RECEPTION, THURSDAY, MARCH 27, 5 – 8PM ARTIST’S TALK ON SATURDAY, APRIL 5 AT 3PM MS. SHALEN WILL BE AT THE GALLERY EACH SATURDAY FROM 11 AM TO 6 PM
