Street Fare with Flair

Each Temerario dish features house-made tortillas, salsas, and moles, as Chef Eduardo Santos puts quality first. Start your meal with elote, or corn slathered with cotija cheese and chipotle aioli. The taco menu has something for everyone, from mahi mahi to sirloin with bacon to the vegetarian Poblano Rajas taco.

The dinner mains shine as well, like the carne asada steak with cauliflower puree and chimichurri. The very Instagrammable house burger also gets high marks. This distinctive beef patty comes on a black brioche bun and is so thick that it has its own stand to keep it upright! The delicious burger, also available at lunch and brunch, also comes with sweet potato fries.

Don’t hurry off before dessert! Pastry chef Jesus Perea has created some delightful delicacies like the Chocoroll, a devil’s food cake with tamarind curd and vanilla ice cream. There are also churros with caramel and chocolate dipping sauces. Spiked coffee drinks like the Cafe Temerario (espresso, Kahlua, dulce de leche, and milk) are also worth a look.

At happy hour, dishes like Queso Fundido, fish tacos, and chicken tacos are just $8.

The Temerario Team

Temerario comes from Jorge Guzman NYC and The People Behind, who also created Lamano, Ofrenda, and The Black Ant. Noho’s The Black Ant distinguishes itself with unique proteins—think ants and grasshoppers—throughout the menu. Temerario has no such insect obsession, but you will find sal de gusano (a.k.a. worm salt) in the guacamole.

Temerario is open for dinner every night and lunch Monday through Friday. Weekend brunch lasts from 11am to 3pm, and happy hour is Monday through Friday, 4 to 7pm.

Temerario is located at 198 8th Avenue. For reservations and more, call 212-645-2100 or visit temerarionyc.com
