Hudson RiverFlicks makes use of the beautiful Chelsea Piers, turning Pier 61 into an outdoor screening situation every Wednesday evening between July 8thand August 19th. Flicks start when the sun goes down (usually around 8:30pm), free popcorn is doled out, and there’s no admission fee. Best of NYC Outdoor Movie Screenings: Brooklyn Bridge Park Movies With A View (Brooklyn)

Brooklyn Bridge Park offers an eight-week series of film screenings during the months of July and August. Films are show on Thursday nights on the Harbor View Lawn with the bright city lights of Manhattan serving as a backdrop along the East River (which provides a cool breeze on hot summer nights!). This year’s film screenings include Office Space, Casablanca, 9 to 5, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Public Vote. Admission is free and seating is first come, first serve. Best of NYC Outdoor Movie Screenings: HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival (Midtown West)

Home to an ice skating rink in the winter and the Winter Village during the holidays, you can bet Bryant Park packs in the free entertainment during the summer as well. The HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival is responsible for screening films every Monday evening from June 26thto August 21stwith the lawn opening at 5pm. Bring a blanket and wait chill out on the lawn until the movie screening begins at sunset. Best of NYC Outdoor Movie Screenings: Intrepid Museum’s Summer Movie Series (Hell’s Kitchen)

Sit back and relax aboard the Intrepid’s flight deck to take part in the museum’s Summer Movie Series. Screening an eclectic mix of films (Top Gun; Good Morning, Vietnam; Anchorman; Cocktail; The Martian; and Back to the Future), this movie series takes place on Friday, May 26th and every Tuesday between July 11th and August 8th. Admission is free, but space is limited, so make sure you show up early to receive a ticket. Standing wait times have been known to exceed two hours, so don’t show up late! Best of NYC Outdoor Movie Screenings: Coney Island Flicks on the Beach (Brooklyn)

Come watch a movie on the Coney Island beach and boardwalk every Monday evening at 8pm during July and August. A 40-foot screen is inflated at W. 10th St., and while this year’s lineup of free films hasn’t been released yet, last year’s lineup included the likes of Jurassic World, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Inside Out.
