Wayne Escoffery Quartet
Due to the coronavirus, please call to ensure this event is still happening before you leave home.
Tenor saxophonist Wayne Escoffery celebrates the release of a new recording, "The Humble Warrior" featuring his powerful quartet with pianist David Kikoski, bassist Ugonna Okegwo, and drummer Ralph Peterson Jr. A protégé of the late great Jackie McLean, Escoffery has worked notably with Eric Reed, Lonnie Plaxico, Abdullah Ibrahim, the Mingus Big Band/Orchestra/Dynasty, Ben Riley's Monk Legacy Septet, and Tom Harrell. All About Jazz says, "Not since the works of bassist Charles Mingus and saxophonist John Coltrane has there been music so charged with emotion and so engulfed in spirituality."
