Baraye Azadi: An Evening of Resistance Through Art
Throughout the current uprising turned revolution in Iran, we’ve seen various forms of protest and solidarity in the diaspora — from sharing stories and footage to storming the streets in rallies and marches. On Saturday, December 3 at Chelsea Market, Baraye Azadi will be an evening where we resist through art, food, and joy, and celebrate the unparalleled warmth and beauty of Iran’s culture as we work to reaffirm, in the words of Edward Said, “the power of culture over the culture of power.”
Baraye Azadi will be hosted by Iranian artist/activist Sepideh Moafi and will feature top artists, musicians, chefs, and dancers for an exploration of Iran through the senses.
All proceeds will be donated to Abdorrahman Boroumand Center, which does crucial work on human rights in Iran.
