Conor Oberst performs with special guests Hop Along/Big Thief at the Bandshell as part of Celebrate Brooklyn!, presented by BRIC in partnership with the Prospect Park Alliance. Hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, Conor Oberst was an indie rock prodigy whose confessional singer/songwriter style and distinct trembling voice quickly wooed the college radio station listeners of the 90s. He is best known for his band Bright Eyes, but has branched out to other projects such as the more rocking Desaparecidos and of course the supergroup Monsters of Folk. Conor Oberst has partnered with Plus 1 so that $1 from every ticket sold will go to support Planned Parenthood and their work delivering vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people in the US and worldwide.

On Sundays through October 23, over 100 local and regional food purveyors will gather on Breeze Hill to offer a range of cuisines. This year, Prospect Park Alliance is partnering with Brooklyn Brewery to produce a special Prospect Park beer called Long Meadow Gold.

What is kayak polo? It's a mix of basketball, water polo, and kayaking and a whole lot of fun! EVENT INFORMATION We've got the equipment (kayaks, vests, helmets, paddles), you bring the body, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship (shorts/sandals, too). Your level of experience doesn't matter. We are limited to 15 participants per game, so reserve your spot for the game at 11 am. We'll put you in a team and give you a vest number on a first-come first-served basis. Dedicated players and volunteers, though, will end up being teachers to others. We focus on individual attention and kayak mentoring, and offer the best free kayak learning experience you can get in NYC. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before game time to be donned with vest, helmet, paddle, and kayak. The Green Team provides essential horticultural care to the Park, including planting, mulching, and removing invasive plants. The Green Team is a wonderful opportunity to learn about gardening, enjoy nature, and make the Park look its best. All volunteers must fill out a waiver and bring it to their first volunteer activity in the park. Volunteers 18 years old or younger should submit their waiver signed by a parent or guardian before any activity begins; volunteers 16 years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No experience necessary. Groups with 10 members or fewer are welcome to join in Green Team sessions. Space is limited. Please fill out a Green Team Group Form to request a date. Gibney Dance Company's full-time Artistic Associates embrace a broad spectrum of activities—in the studio, on stage, within our organization, and throughout the community. Our Artistic Associates perform the work of Artistic Director Gina Gibney and guest choreographers; facilitate hundreds of movement workshops each year for survivors of intimate partner violence; and offer healthy relationship assemblies to high school students throughout the city through our Hands are for Holding program. Additionally, each Artistic Associate develops programming at our Centers addressing pressing issues in the dance field, such as cultivating long-term diversity, connecting artists around the globe, and empowering dancers with financial literacy training.

Neptune Revisited: Terra Cotta Relics from the Childs Building - CONEY ISLAND

Brought to you by Coney Island History Project The Coney Island History Project's special exhibition for the 2017 season is "Neptune Revisited: Terra Cotta Relics from the Childs Building, Last of Coney Island's Boardwalk Palaces." A selection of original polychrome pieces from the Childs Restaurant Building will be on display along with archival photographs, ephemera, and an illustrated timeline of the history of the building and its restoration. Also on view are historic artifacts, photographs, maps, ephemera and films of Coney Island's colorful past. Among the treasures on display is Coney Island's oldest surviving artifact, the 1823 Toll House sign which dates back to the days when the toll for a horse and rider to "the Island" was 5 cents! Visitors are invited to take free souvenir photos with the iconic Spook-A-Rama Cyclops and an original Steeplechase horse from the legendary ride that gave Steeplechase Park its name. Located on West 12th Street at the entrance to Deno's Wonder Wheel Park, the Coney Island History Project's exhibition season is from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, from 1:00pm-7:00pm. Admission is free of charge.

Adams and Prospect Park Alliance present A Summer Movie Under the Stars in partnership with Brooklyn's Nitehawk Cinema. These free outdoor film screenings on Prospect Park's Long Meadow North will feature live musical entertainment followed by family-friendly films carefully selected by Nitehawk's cinema department, to highlight park themes such as the famed Prospect Park Zoo, summer camps, Little League Baseball and the exquisite flora and fauna. Whether you're a first time runner, a seasoned marathoner, or you prefer to walk, you're welcome along. No need to register in advance; sign-in takes place on site. Volunteers track the timing and marshal the course, but please leave your valuables at home as bag check is not provided. To participate, meet on the path south of Fornino at Pier 6 at 6:45pm for registration. The run begins at 7:00pm and the course comprises a full 5K. NYRR Open Runs are open to all ages. The Brooklyn Historical Society is closed on major holidays.
